hey guys, I filled up my tank today and noticed a leak on the driver side of the tank were it is stamped and welded together. It's about a 1/4-1/2 in scrape. its not rusted through. somehow something hit it. I'm a firm believer in doing things correctly the first time and not just doing whatever will work but I don't have the money at this time to buy a new tank.
does anyone know of a way I can stop the leak temporarily until I can buy a new tank?

They actually sell something at the Parts store specifically for repairing gas tanks. it's kind of like a puddy that you roll together and stick to the tank. Its' easier to do than JB weld, and seems to do a better job. You can actually weld a gas tank, you don't have to replace it. I brought one to a guy a few years ago. He emptied the gas tank out, filled it with water and welded it.

water weld is what your supposed to use? If so I already have some.

I thought it could be welded but wasn't sure. I might do that if I can find somebody withen a decent distant from me, I live in the middle of nowhere.

o and thank you to whoever fixed the headline, I tried to and couldn't find out how.

I looked at the water weld and it said it was for gas tanks so I used it. It worked great and I saved a piece of it to see how hard it got and it was pritty impressive how hard that got and how fast. I'm still planning on getting it welded or getting a new tank.
