hole in TB

Dont do it lol. I tried it and it messed my idle up alot (2000). I drilled the hole to big though, and then restricted my IAC to counteract. AC off it still idles @ 1000-1100 and AC on it idles @ 800ish (normal). On cold starts it will die if I turn on the AC, so its annoying.
Im going to have to buy a new TB, but for now ill live with it.

I drilled the hole, the size of the heads of the screws that hold the blade on.....the stockers hole was the same size as the head of the screws, so I just copied. But apparently the stock TB had smaller screws LOL.

SaleenGT2001:

Just say no to the hole, please. You need to adjust idle (and all the idle parameters) via the tune. I suggest that you datalog and see if the MAF signal is steady at idle and the behavior when you stab the throttle. You're right that the BOV may be affecting the MAF (i.e.-backwashing). Is it possible to move the BOV or is it in the Saleen "stock" position? Is this idle problem new or old? Did you change something or modify the engine recently? More info, please.

Chris

i have just changed my IC setup. it has a tial 50MM BOV about 6" from the outlet of the IC and about 12" down from the MAF. it does have a blow thru MAF and the idle hasnt been great since the tune but it is now a LOT worse than it was before. when it was tuned they said the IAC was maxed out and couldnt pullany more air into the engine.

i heard you were supposed to locate the BOV/Bypass as close to the SC (or turbo) as you could get it

atleast thats what our tuner recomended to us and it worked out pretty good

Posts like this and the general stuipidity in this thread overall are why I have written off 4.6 tech here :notnice:

 I thought I was on his ignor list? And with posts like that I wish I was.

Well just so noone thinks im crazy, my car has horrable drivability issues. Iv tried everything and drilling the hole in the TB was a last ditch effort to fix my low RPM bucking problems. That didnt do it either. I was just so fustrated that I did it and just said I can always buy a new TB if it doesnt work....and it didnt really work lol.

Bye bye Killy....we sure as heck wont miss your attitude. Jeeze.
