holley 4010 carb any good?

It is 600 cfm. old. for 302 w/holley contender. I heard it was no good I think on some web site.

I used to have one on the mach before. It was a good simple carb. Just a bolt on and go, not much tunability for performance though. It wasn't terrible was a very nice daily driver carb. Also very easy to change the jets on it.

Seems to me like it'd be as good as an Autolite 4100 as far as reliability goes. Looks to be about the same carb.

Just make sure not to overtighten those torx bolts that hold the top cover on, they will destroy the gasket and strip out very easy. Ask me how I know.

One sits atop my track car as we "speak". When I do the street thing the Barry Grant comes off and a Holley 4010 goes on.

the 4010 is a very good carb for the street, much like the 4100 autolite. there are subtlties in tuning that carb, like the 4100, that most people have yet to understand. unfortunately most carb tuners never took the time to understand the carb, and thus the carb never became popular.
