I got an 1989 Tank with a stock "in tank" pump attached to the pickup. How can I plug an in-line fuel pump? I am getting the larger fuel lines and couplings, the Regulator comes with the pump.

I just need to know about the pickup? I don't want to have a sump welded to the tank just yet. Can I convert the EFI pickup to work with an inline pump or what?

thanks

Mallory makes a drop in pick-up for use with in-line pumps, made for carb applicaton's. I take it your running carb as a Holley Blue Pump dosn't put out enough pressure for EFI (I Believe) The Mallory unit has a 10AN Supply Line and a 6AN Return Line. Basically take the old EFI Pick Up Assy. out of the tank, take the Mallory one and drop it right in...No problems. Get the right fitting's and adaptor's(If your not using AN or the sizes on the pick-up) and your set man. Pretty easy eh!!! I used one with my 408.
The part number of the pick-up you need is 4205. If you want to see a pic of it and the specs go to the Mr. Gasket Website, click on the Mallory Logo, and download there fuel systems cat.

Take your stock tank and have it sumped...That holley blue is for pushing fuel through not pulling.

Sumping the tank is definetly the best thing to do. The Holley Blue will work fine.

It adds pressure to the tank until gas exits a line? What do you mean by pushing versus pulling?

Thanks for the info guys!

MOST electric fuel pumps are designed to have the fuel gravety feed to the inlet, and push the fuel. They are not designed to pull the fuel from a lower point. They can pull some, but it is best to install them so the pump inlet is at, or below it fuel level in the tank.

Below is the fuel line coming out of my fuel cell, into the filter, then to the fuel pump. A sumped tank will give the same end results.
