Holley Jet Sizes

Hey everyone,

What jet size works best in the stock 289? Just got the car 3 weeks ago and am trying to tune the Holley 4160. Just rebuilt the carb and am running way too rich. Forgot to check the numbers on the current jets, another project for tomorrow.
Should I just buy the set and exchange them until I get a pair that works or buy the kit from Summit that allows you to adjust the jets externally?

it seems to me that something like a 62 in the primary, and a 74 in the secondary should put you in the ballpark for a stock engine.

What cfm carb is it that will make a difference, also a 4160 doesnt have secondary jets.

Thanks guys, the 4160 I have is the standard 600 cfm model, a little oversized for the engine but I am trying to work with it (came with the car, hope to go to stock eventually but not in the budget this year). Just got the '65 fastback 3 weeks ago and am trying to get it on the road.
