I was looking through summit racing and saw the Holley SysteMax ll engine upgrade which includes heads, cam, intake manifold, heads, hardened pushrods, double roller timing chain all for $2,199.95. Has anyone had any experience or heard anything about this set up? Is it worth it. Any thoughts at all will be appreciated.
Thanks

all of the parts are pretty good, not much experience with the heads though. i think this is a better deal than the trickflow package.

I've seen several of those packages installed (though I've never installed one) and the song they sing afterwards seems to be the same. The upper and lower intake are awesome. The heads are better than decent. The cam should be chucked in the waste basket and a Crane Custom installed. The "kick ass" setup was the Holley upper and lower couples with AFR 185 heads and cam who's lift and duration I was told about but never wrote down. I imagine though that whatever the parts are that you decide to put together (intakes, heads, etc.) can be matched with a great cam from any company that knows what they're doing. I guess the moral is that it's a great kit minus the cam. More specifically, the cam that's offered with the kit really killed the low RPM torque. The same thing was said about 3 different cars with different exhaust setups etc. One of those cars (belonging to a good friend of mine) I saw come back to life with a new cam.

I don't know anyone first-hand who has this kit, but i've been considering getting it myself. According to Holley, this kit will dyno 350hp/350tq at the crank. You'll need supporting hardware (MAF, throttle body, rockers, etc) but that dyno was supposedly on a stock short block 302. I imagine that does not take parasitic loss into account either.

The cam sucks. Swap out the cam and its a nice set up. But why would u do that, the whole point of buying a engine kit is to use the stuff it came with. Maybe i'm bias but TRICK FLOW IS A WAY BETTER KIT IN MY OPINON. See sig.!!!!!!

If I were to go with my own set up, what do you think would be the best head, cam, upper/lower intake would be?

Nightrider-Where did you order it from? How much did you pay.
Let me know
Thanks

I'm not sure what kit you're all taking about. The only "kits" offered on their website are for Chevrolet. Great idea though. It would help having to do the whole piston to valve clearance check if they offered some sort of package and knew exactly what years it were a bolt on for.

The trickflow part number on summit is TFS-K514-350-370 or TFS-K514-360-350

make your own package guy, think about it every company has some parts that are more quality than others...meaning just b/c trickflow may have decent heads doesnt mean their intake will be more beneficial than holleys, and their cams will pull harder than a comp cam. kits are decent "bang for the buck", but in order to get the most out of your car mix and match parts to get the best of all worlds.

"just b/c trickflow may have decent heads doesnt mean their intake will be more beneficial than holley's" What intake r u talking about. Trick flow has 3 or 4 intakes. Holley has at least 2 not sure maybe 3 but intake forintake they r about the same. Now the systemax II intake will for sure out flow a street heat intake but a TFS R intake would be a better comparsion. i'm bias to each his own.
