People on Mustang boards are so ignorant...

If they put that kind of money into something more worth while (what YOU call worthwhile) they would be like EVERYONE else with a fast American V8! I respect any fast car, especially one doing 140 in the 1/4! I guess its funny to hear 14 second Mustang owners making fun of a 9 second Honda!

That's pretty much how i see it. Anything fast enough to impress me, considering what the car actually is, is cool to me. The fact that it's running 9s on half the cylinders of the cars i'm familiar with is all the more reason to respect it.

Now, body kits, huge wings, vinyl graphics and retarded paint colors and such is a whole different subject. Racing is racing and fast is fast, i don't care how you get there. Sure i have my own preferences but that doesn't mean mine is the only way.

thats what I mean, not only is it doing 9's but its doing it on a 1.8L which started out as a 16 second economy car.

It doesn't have to necessarily be ignorance either. It may just be a general dislike for honduh.

For instance:
I'm well aware that a honduh can be made to go fast. I'm also well aware that for the right price, any car can be made to go fast. With that understood, does it make me want to run out and buya honduh that will run less than 12 seconds? Absolutely not. Mostly because after it's all been said and done, it's still only a honduh.

For me, it has no appeal whatsoever. It inspires no feeling of power or performance. A really fast one however, does inspire a feeling of novelty, but that's about it. On the same hand though... A really fast Caprice Classic or Taurus Wagon (regardless of how fast) will also not inspire any feelings of power or performance. Again, it might inspire a feeling of novelty but little else.

It never ceases to amaze me how many hater haters we have on this MUSTANG forum. I mean... I wouldn't frequent an import site demanding respect for my 5oh. That's not what they're into. They're in to making power with small motors and seeing what and how far, they can go with the cars that they appreciate.

--inversely--

Neither I or anyone else owes any homage or respect for any other car. No one here is required to share your view that car X is bad ass. No one here has to be "ignorant" because they don't share the view that car X is bad ass.

There are LOTS of cars out there that I would consider worthy of spending my hard earned cash and time on. Very FEW of those are imports; NONE are Japanese imports. It's just not my thing.

I suppose that what I'm trying to say is that, how someone feels about a car, has little to do with "ignorance". It has a lot more to do with someones taste for this vehicle or that one. It has a LOT to do with how a car makes you feel! I mean... who here has ever gotten a chubby from seeing a a Mustang pull the front wheels from a stop light??? (GUILTY!)... Has the same person obtained the same feeling of inspiration from a fast honduh??? (Perhaps, but not me. )

I dunno... maybe it's just that, turbo charged weed whacker noises just don't do it for me.

Well said, but most Mustang owners know nothing about modding a Honda or making one fast, therefore when they say why waste money on something not worth it, it is ignorance, without knowing what has been put into it, you cant really make claims like that?

Having an opinion is fine, we all have them, but having a differing opinion is also normal. I respect fast cars of all kinds, and just laugh at the fact that not a single person here has probably ever been in a 140 mph track car and they are ragging on and laughing at this one, merely because it isnt their taste!

Would you believe that watching top fuel and funny cars does nothing for me, I would rather watch slower more street oriented cars.

Ahhh... for me. Being trackside next a motor that you feel in your chest... that's what it's all about.

I feel the same way about that. I don't care much for the top fuel and all, those are not really cars to me. Pro-stock is OK, at least they are still cars.

I kind of feel the same way about these "super-imports" for two reasons. For one, every kid with his Corrolla with a fart pipe thinks he can use that as example or justification saying "they can be made fast". Well, yes they can, but I can promise you a couple things about those kinds of cars, the amount of money to get them there is immense, and secondly the amount of technology and resources most people cannot have. Yeah, the nascar teams can do what they do to get that much power out of a 358cid engine, but do you think they would sell you one of thier top engines?

Why I said the civic isn't worthwhile is because a civic is an appliance, not really a car. I would rather take that engine, and mount it to a go-kart, that would be something.
