I live up north in Toronto Canada and it's cold as heck here!

We've already had 5 cold weather warnings in the city and it just keeps on getting worse.

For those not familiar with Toronto, we're having a homeless crisis right now for the past 5 years. Seems like the they are coming from everywhere and we just can't keep them off the streets and in shelters.

I've even heard stories of these bums breaking into parked cars and sleeping in them just to get away from the cold and try and get a goodnights sleep.
Anyone here ever go to their car in the morning to find it was broken into with evidence that whoever did so, may have spent the night in the car also?

Does anyone know someone else who this happened to????????????

Last night I got paranoid and went down to my indoor parking garage to double check before I went to bed.

Like I said, it's cold as heck here and it's like on every corner you see one of these lazy pr#$ks sleeping in a sleeping bag, covered in snow and frost and actually trying to live like this. We spend over $100 million a year on shelters and these people refuse to use them because they don't like the rules these places put on them. It's come down now to the public tax dollar paying for "catering" these people. What I mean by this is a "street patrol" group was set up that goes around the streets all night looking for these people and serving them hot beverages, soup, sandwiches, warm clothes, etc etc...

AND MY TAX DOLLAR IS PAYING FOR IT!

I know it's not tech, but there's no "Lounge" on stangnet for me to post this on.

Besides, "technically" all of you should be concerned about stuff like this.

Hence it does belong in tech !

Technically, I think keeping a pet rattlesnake in my car would work pretty good. Seen a few in NYC...

Get out! You mean you've actually seen a parked car with a rattlesnake loose in the car as means of anti theft protection???????????

More details please.

heh heh. Yeah, Viper alarms. I haven't actually seen one, but I read a magazine article a few years ago where several NYC residents were interviewed about the fact that they do. I guess you can buy them in some pet stores that are really heavy into reptiles, I think they have had the venom glands removed. Kinda like a pet skunk with no more stinker... only not...
Regardless, even if I knew it wasn't poisonous anymore I don't think I'd be sticking my hand in the car, do you?

Its not just because they dont like the rules,in those shelters alot of unsaid stuff goes down. These people have just about nothing( in terms of posetions)when they wake up they've been robbed,or get sexually molested, and even get there ass kicked! I wouldnt want to stay there either!!
