I'm looking for some write ups/pictures of homemade rear seat deletes...I think $100+ dollars is ridiculous for plywood and carpet. I don't want to put my stock ripped up rear seats back in, they look like ass.lol
I am going to be making one for my car. I am just going to use the hatch carpet to make part of the template, and then make some sort of storage cubby area, where the rear seat bottom would be. I too would still be interested in a write up, or pics
I just got a big cardboard box and cut a rough shape out of it for the vertical part, test fit/trim/test fit/ trim/etc. until it was right. Parked the car on a level surface and used a level with one end on the flat area in the back and got a height for the front piece. Traced it on 1/2" plywood and cut it out. Did the same thing for the flat piece and put speaker carpet on the whole thing. I did a piece all the way in the back and it turned out pretty nice. Just takes some time but worth it if you ask me.
I prefer a look that follows the contours of interior panels. It's more measuring, cutting and shaping but I like how mine came out. Too bad I don't have the car anymore.
I also made a vertical cargo area divider panel that sits in the flat notch of the shock tower covers, but never put it in. I thought that would "finish" the overall look better - hiding the fact that there is something missing - namely the rear seat.
that stuff is sweet. get it powdercoated and it would look even better. i'd get that rsd is it had the storage spots on where the seat was. of course if it wasn't $300 as well.
