Anyone have experience with making thier own rotissiere? I've seen some webpages with instructions and drawings where people have modified engine stands to become the end pieces of a rotisserie but would like to here from anyone who has ever done anything like this.

My plan was to buy 2 1000lb engine stands, extend them up to about 42"- 44" and building some brackets to bolt where the bumper brackets bolt. I figure $100 for the engine stands, and probably another 100-150 in box tubing to create the brackets and some plate to make some gussets where needed.

From every website I've been to so far has stated that an empty shell weighs about 1200 lbs. I don't see a problem with the stands holding up if the welding is done properly and with good material. Does this sound like a plan?

Thanks for the link and thanks for the pictures wickedmach1. That thing looks awesome. I think I might build it from scratch instead of using the engine stands.

I'm deff. building one of these though.
