If anyone is looking for an under hood or tunk lamp, I found a good deal on the original style on Ebay for 20 bucks.

By the way, does anyone have some good pictures of where they are supposed to be mounted?

The price on those is good, that's at least $10 below retail.

You can mount those anywhere you want, they are not factory-installed. They were sold over-the-counter, though. I bought one at my local Ford dealer many years ago, it's in my 66 trunk even now.

There's the instruction sheet:

A little history on these lamps:

The factory lights are very rare, and looked like this:

Thanks for the links.

The ones I just bought I think are reproductions since they don't say they are Ford brand. They don't have any information that I can see stamped on top either. Most repop ones I have seen are about 35-40 bucks. They still have several left for anyone that is interested.

So that one in your picture is a factory installed lamp? I didn't even know they had those back then on the Mustang. I figured it wasn't until some time in the 70's that Ford did that.

They became available in 67. Hard to find, though, not many people cared enough to spend the few bucks.

The Hobbs lamp was widely sold by Ford in Ford (or Rotunda, etc) boxes for many years. They didn't make them. But of course, they don't make a lot of the stuff on the cars. They don't make bolts, or oil filters, or air filters, or light bulbs, or a host of other parts. Brakes, for instance, are bought from brake companies. 65-70 Mustangs had Bendix power steering, and Bendix also made an almost identical system for the 63-82 Corvette.

The Hobbs lamp was also available elsewhere, JC Whitney sold them for years.

I got the repop lights for the hood and the trunk, but the mercury switch inside is backwards, so I switched it around. The lamp would have to be facing up to stay on. That just seems odd to me that it would be that way. Other than that they are nice and look cool for cruise night.

tx, if it helps you any here's a few pics of my factory optioned hood and trunk lights in my '67 Coupe:

I put the reflective tape over the hood light to reflect more light down, illuminates the engine well at night cruise ins and actually shines in front of the car too, really stands out at night.

You'll need an inline fuse at the solenoid, can't remember the size but I think it's small, like 2A.
