Don't think in two dimensions. Rotate the hinge on the bolts. Yeah, the slots don't go that way, but it works.

A hinge on my 67 bound up and ripped one of the nuts off the inner fender.

I do not know if it was the hinge binding, or the sheet became weak and warped slightly causing it to bind.

I do know that it bend the oem hinge and tweaked some sheet metal.

I got the hood to fit pretty well now. I also got the stainless steel version of the Shelby style hood prop. It works well.
