hood latching ?'s

I was wondering if there is a reason or a fix for this little problem which seems to be pretty common on fox's.

When i go to close my hood i have to "drop" it . Slowly closing the hood and then pushing it will NOT latch it. I have tried oiling/wd-40ing the latch components as well as making sure everything lines up , which it seems to. As well i have tried lowering and raising the hood stops with no avail.

Anyone else have this problem or have a fix for it?

Mine is like that too. is there a way to adjust it I've never looked. The first say with my car I took my friend for a ride after showing him under the hood. I got up to about 100 Km's and hour and the hood poped up a little to the secondary latch or whatever you call it. I slammed on the brakes locked up the front tires and had to get out and slam the hood....The guy I was with has a 86 IROC and hasn't had his car on the road since....He said it wont be on the road untill he builds a new motor that will spank mine..I told him "you better make a good one cause I got plans for this one"

Sorry man, every single Fox Mustang I have ever owned needed the "drop shut" method to engage the hood latch. It probably has to do with the design of the lock cam and not the springs or amount of oil on the moving parts. The profile of the latch cam is probably too steep to trigger the lock when not enough force is used.

There is a little adjustment on the latching system (as far as moving the latch around a bit). We had to mess with mine when i got the fiberglass hood. Also after switching to the fiberglass hood mine still needs a liitle force....not a drop shut though. On my pals, he just has to gently push it down????
