While were speaking of hoods....I wanna open my cowl up.....I really want that thing opened to let the heat out and hear the noise... Kinda like the old Chevy 70 SS cowl induction hoods, only the opened the cowl when you romped on it via a vacuum actuated setup...
With that said...Has anyone tried this yet??? I have the H.O. Fibertrends 95 R hood and it seems more than meaty enuf to open both side and still be "structually sound" Any thoughts???
I was thinking I would leave like 1/4" all around the cowl radius, both inside and out as its double-walled, to keep it rigid...I dont want it flexxing around and cracking or some chit like that...If I had to i could stiffen it up some with like 1/4" Alum stock....
The hood extracts some heat, but I think it could do better for getting the u/hood temps down...Maybe even opening it up a lesser amount then adding some Black or SiLver mesh....Not really into the bumper screen stuff, maybe something with larger dia mesh???
Any thoughts???
Like open it here inside...that face is all cowl...could open that 2" easy...

And here....This area could be opened 2" for the entire cowl...

Exacly what do you mean by opening it? I have the Cervini's Cobra R and it has vents in the under side that go through to the cowl. Does the Fibertrend not do this?

No, no opening or vents....The hood does rise 3/4" higher than the stock over the wiper cowl, so it does vent some...I thought it would be opened for the entire cowl...not the case..
