Hood Pins

Howdy Folks,

I'm about done with getting the stang back together and was wondering what hood pins would be best to use to hold down my fiberglass hood.

I'd like to get the locking hood pins because I think the flush mount would look better and since I put the hood on the old hinges I don't think I can get away with type that stick way up out of the hood because of the angles involved in opening and closing.

I myself like the stock ford mach one locks. The twist type.

I would go with the flush mounted ones if possible. I'm not a fan of the in your face hood pins. With your body style, less in more IMO.

I have those locking flush ones on my fiberglass hood. They require the stock latch as they aren't strong and secure enough to hold the hood by themselves. They're mainly installed as an anti-tamper device.

That's what I thought as well. Looks like I'll have to rig up something.

For a short period of time my car had the flush style hood pins with the barrell type (pop machine) lock.
They really only engaged about 1/4 turn.
My car does not have the factory hood latch so I was not comfortable with this set-up.
I am currently running the old style studs/pins with the flip over retainer.
I like the look of a flush style better but I do not trust them.
Another consideration is using any type of "locking" mechanism on your hood.
IMHO I would not go this route. I have these nightmares of trying to open my hood to extinguish a small fire and not being ale to do so

i guess it's the cutouts or something on the others, they make think of the Reactor car and all those fender bolts.

hmmm, looks suspiciouly like the ring brothers hood pins. actually i kinda like the lockable kind though. these are different than the normal rinky dink looking locakble pin kits, it uses the same locks but the pin bezels are really cool

Unless you've got other billet doo-dads bolted onto the outside of your car, those pins are going to stick out like sore thumbs. They look nice but not something I'd put on a hood. Maybe if they were flush mounted.

Love the use of 400K graphic images for a "website", which are out-of-scale, unless the scuff plates really are oblong-shaped.

If you ment you can't pay $400 for hood PINS I agree 100%.

The hinges are the flat out BOMB.
