Hood weight?

How much does the stock OEM hood on a 96 GT weight?
From what I hear they weight a ton.

pretty light really.
I have installed mine by my self with no problems.
They are composite.

I know they're not all steel like some of the old hoods, I think they've got some fiberglass layers inside?

Is your hood lift off or does it use the existing hinges? How do you like it?

My hood does use the existing hood hinges and it works great and looks great! It's a Ford product and sold through ford Motorsport dealers.

The hoods weigh 1 pound less than a horse

I just got a new saleen carbon fiber hood and compared to that, the stock weighed a freaking TON. I would have weighed the stock hood for you but i sold it already.

A big horse or a little horse? I would suspect a little horse as some of those big horses must weigh as much as a hood, a trunk lid and maybe even a door and two windshield wipers all put together

The stock OEM 94-98 GT hood with heat blanket
weights right around 40 lbs.
As heavy as a ton of bricks lol.
