Hood won't close properly on 90 5.0L with Novi 1000 Supercharger

Hello,

I have a 1990 Mustang 5.0L with a Novi 1000 supercharger. The problem is that my hood does not close properly. It is basically being propped up by the supercharger.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or heard of it? I am looking into getting a new good (Cobra R style from cervinis) but am afraid that it may still not clear.

Any ideas, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Interesting. I guess a raised hood wouldnt work either. Looks like you had to smash your air filter to make it fit as well.

i had the same prob on my install. you have to "clock" the supercharger. lightly loosen the head unit bolts and turn the halves to one direction.

Don't want to sound cynical, but could you elaborate a little more? It would be much appreciated.

AHHHHH YES... Thats something they didn't tell me about when I installed my Paxton. You will find that it is most likely the oil inlet fitting that is hitting the hood, and clocking the supercharger will fix the other contact point (the intake tube going to the throttle body.)

First, try clocking the spercharger. Take it off the bracket and loosen the bolts (they have little triangular plates under them) around the outside of the blower housing. You can then actually turn the housing on the blower like a clock. I did this to mine, and my hood still wouldn't shut due to the oil inlet fitting. I guess for some people, this gives them enough clearance, but not me. I ended up having to dimple my hood support to clear the oil inlet fitting.

There is nothing more tear jerking than bashing on your beloved mustang hood with a hammer. I smeared grease on the fitting to see where it was hitting, then kept dimpling away until it cleared my hood support. (and no, it did no damage to the exterior of the hood.


its a little frustrating at first, but trust me, its all worth it when you drive it.
