Hooker Mufflers

My cousin just got a 1989 5.0 lx Stang that had a 5.0 put in it after the 4 cylinder. He said he is not sure, but he believes that the car has some hooker mufflers on it. What do you guys think about the sound of these things? I have not heard it yet, but I would like to know what other Stang drivers think. Also he said he wants to swap them for some flowmasters....should I stop him?

This is kind of funny because I regret changing my Hooker Aerochambers (those could be different than what you got) to my Flowmaster 2 chambers (40 series). The Hookers flowed just a tick better...you could actually see thru the muffler...and they were almost just as loud. I spent money on two mufflers just to get that "everyday" sound instead of keeping something a bit different that would have saved me money and a horsepower

The sound was an aggressive/snarl type sound...but my car sounds very good right now as well...but I just could have spent the money elsewhere...

Thats cool, but you have to keep in mind that he has no converters....will this make a difference?

I have/had no convertors as well...so the post still applies above

i have them with no cats.....my car is pretty close to stck mind you, and it is really quiet for my taste.....I am, though, the biggest granny driver in the world! But the couple of times i have gotten on it, she sounds pretty good

Sometime i would like to dump em and see if i like the sound better.

Adam - Do you have the Aerochambers or the "others"...I can't remember what they are called... I also had headers with mine as well though...

My flows are louder but I just could have spent my money elsewhere...

The Mac Equal Length's must be louder than those BBK's...it must be the Mac's rust Just kidding...hmm...I do get more "that car is loud" comments once I got the Flows...I just know when I first started them up after they were welded in...they didn't seem that much louder. I think they did do some sort of "break-in" though...because they do seem louder than they were...I almost need ear plugs now...some like the noise...some don't I DO.
