My starter is not engaging in my flexplate very well. Is there a trick to getting this thing meshed into the bellhousing? I know on chevys they have a shim. Or is it make it flush on the bellhousing and start away? Any advice would be great

is it just spinning and not engageing to the flexplate?. Does it take a couple of trys before it engages. Sounds to me like the starter is bad. Fords are known for there bad starters. makes sure that your flexplate isn't missing any teeth, cause that would cause it. If your flexplate is fine then the apex gears is not coming out

Well, the car started fine, and then I had to remove it, to hook up the cable as it came loose. I don't think that it was flush with the bellhousing.. The apex gear is coming out, when you roll it over, but it is not engaging. I would assume that it would be just not lined up right????
