I was wondering, how good of tires are Hoosier slicks in terms of just track use ? I was maybe thinking of getting a set. Also, about how long do they last in terms of passes if anyone knows ? Thanks.

from what i've seen, they are a good brand. whenever i goto the track for those special events with funny cars and jet cars, all the other drag specific guys are running either mickey thompson or hoosier slicks. so i'd say that is a good indicator for them . as for how many passes they'll last...don't know

To be honest i think anyone taking hoosiers to a drag strip should look like someone taking a NHRA drag car to a road racing competition. Hoosiers are designed for Autocross and road racing. Im sure they have some drag tires, but go with M/T they're prolly much better for that application.

Oh and from my understanding Hoosiers last around 15-20 laps...with an average track of 2 miles.

Hoosier does indeed make autocross tires, but they also make drag specific slicks.

I see more people with M/T and I even hear good things about Pheonix too, but I think Hoosier's would treat you fine. As far as how long will they last, I couldn't tell ya. I'm sure it depends on how long your burnouts are and whatnot though.

The Hoosiers I'm looking at are Drag specific. They are a full slick I believe. I figured they were a good brand but I'm still curious as to how many passes down the drag strip I'll get out of them. Thanks for the input so far.

Hoosiers are VERY GOOD tires. Not sure how many passes you'll get. I'll call my cousin and ask him. He's got a set on his '73 Challenger. www.hoosierracingtire.com
