horn short ?

Considering that the current from your horn is always live unless properly switched off. I suppose that if you have disconnected them in the steering column and they are not terminated properly then they could be shorting out or otherwise causing you trouble. Do you have more details?
My horn was sticking, and I tested the horns themselves and they were good. I isolated it down to the horn button. It's the 3 spoke Grant steering wheel model with the chrome button in the middle. If I hook the wires up under the cap the horn will start going off immediately. If I replace the cap and then wiggle the cap it stops but it's still super sensitve to going off.

Sorry if I am sounding like a broken record here but I think the horn set-up on grant steering wheels is garbage. Honestly I would like to know how many guys who have them that actually work properly and safely? I was so disgusted with my grant horn steering wheel set-up, I clipped the wires at the top of the steering wheel pulled them back through the sleeve and hooked up a toggle switch under the dash for my horn! Mine was shorting etc. I haven't had any problems since. Hey if it was good enough for the 65 Shelby's It's good enough for me! (they had a similar set-up).

I'd have to say that I agree with you, I am disappointed in the horn part. I love the wheel otherwise but the horn cap popping off when you hit a bump is just not cool. I don't know how's it's shorting with both wires disconnected but I gotta figure it out. Any recommendations for a different style wheel with a different style horn setup.
The grant horn I have SUCKS it sticks and is a real POS I finaly gave up after hours of trying to get it working. I tried several springs and insulating materials and finally came to the conclusion that there is no helping it. It is my understanding that grant now has an improved design but I have not seen it myself.
