Horsepower hungry 24 year old needs your help...

Hey!

I need your help choosing what mods to make to this car NEXT (current
mods below). I'm looking for the best value, bang-for-the-buck mods
(preferably under $1,500) to add a bunch of power while keeping this
thing a reliable and very streetable car. Your help is appreciated!!

I estimate the car's putting out close to 300 motor HP right now, and
my goal is to get this number closer to 400 HP.

Here are the car's current details:

'92 LX with approx. 90,000 miles on motor

lightened to 2,900 lbs
pro 5.0 shifter
aluminum drive shaft
king cobra clutch
3.55 ring and pinion with true lock diff.
rear disc brake conversion
polished 17x9 '03 cobra wheels with new kumho tires
welded subframes
bbk springs in the rear
adjustable coil overs in the front
KYB AGX gas shocks
strut tower brace
panhard bar
electric fan
hyperwhite headlights
alpine CD player
corbeau racing seats
cobra upper and lower intake
76mm mass air
timing bump
mac cold air
march underdrive pulleys & ac eliminater bracket
ford motorsports ceramic coated headers
mac o/r h-pipe
flowmaster american thunder cat-back with stainless 3 inch tips
msd 6al ignition box
msd distributer
msd blaster coil

Thanks,
Mike

I say add a set of heads and a cam.. Since your on a tight budget, I have a buddy that has a set of cast iron GT-40's (reg GT-40's not GT-40P's) off of a 96 Explorer, complete 80,000miles he is only asking $350, and a machine shop could freshen them up for less then $300 (valve job, springs etc) and you'd be ready to go! [email protected]

A good cam would also help maximize the combo with the heads, you can use all your supporting hardware, but I'd get a 70mm TB....

I dont think you are making 300 fwhp quite yet...but i bet you are up around 275-280. You still have a real good start an seeing as u already have the cobra upper and lower...i would get a real good set of heads and a cam....and then port match the lower to the new heads. I think with that combo you will see close to 350 hp...good luck man

Wow, thanks for all the help so far.

The general opinion seems to be a good set of heads and possibly
a cam and intake to accompany them.

This is kinda what I was thinking, and I appreciate all the help!

My next question is, with a new set of heads would I also need
the following?...

-upgraded injectors (24 lbs maybe)
-upgraded fuel pump
-throttle body and egr plate
-roller rockers - 1.6 or 1.7

95/5.0stang and BlownStangGT...

The car actually belongs to a friend right now and I haven't had a
chance to drive it yet, but I'm gonna buy it off him and I'm just
planning some summer mods now :)

But he loves the Pro 5.0 shifter (!), and it's hard to say about the
panhard bar because he added the other suspension mods at
the same time. The car does handle amazingly well though, and
has super balance under almost any circumstances.

Hope that helps, and please let me know about my horsepower
needs ;-)

Thanks,
Mike

You guessed it. The fuel pump would be the first to go (300hp max), then the injectors (320hp max), the thottle body wouldn't be a bad choice ( I would go to a 70MM) and the RR's are nice but you need to figure out what lift your going to run. I would run a different cam and the 1.6RR's. Sounds like a pretty quick ride if it only tips the scale at 2900lbs.
