while swaping my upper plenum and fuel lines etc onto the newer (aluminum) pi intake, I decided to clean all the crap out of the throttle body etc....

then while looking at something else in the haynes manual, it warned against cleaning all that out because theres some sort of non-stick coating that you will remove if you clean it, and that would hurt performance. oops I guess cause its real clean now

I've read a few debates on this topic - i don't think it's recommended (as stated in the Hayes manual) but no harm will come.

The coating is there to mainly help it resist gum build up. Won't hurt nothing, you will just have to clean it more often.

3M carb cleaner is safe on it FWIW. It cleans and lubricates ... but you don't need to worry about doing any 'damage', it's fine.
