Passing emissions with a carb? On a car that has specs for the efi engine? In most places you'd have been failed simply for removing the fuel injection. There's not a hope in hell that you'll pass with that combo in my opinion. You didn't really think you could did you?

On the other hand, it's Louisiana. Isn't there someone you can simply 'buy' the sticker from?

88 - he's carbed - fuel pressure only affects how quickly the fuel bowl gets filled. The difference between atmospheric pressure and venturi pressure is what pulls fuel into the engine - pressure doesn't impact it.

Try backing off the air-fuel ratio until the car is stumbling and barely running (possibly even stalling) -- that will probably get you by or close at idle. You're probably fine on the rollers (if you have to go).

Maybe post the emissions readouts and we can see what to do from there.

Round these parts, if a car does not have its original engine, they will allow you to pass emissions based on "1980" standards, whatever that means... [as far as limits or readings..] but it's for cars that have been hot rodded, or had to buy a "new or diff engine", and from what i've heard the standards are a joke.. EFI cars w/ no cats around here [EFI Irocs and done up Stangs w/ 347s] have passed the 1980 standards E test..

Nuthing like that there?

How do you spell EFI conversion -$$$. It's probably the only way you'll ever pass the sniffer test.

Aside from that, post the HC, CO & NO results you got and what speed the sniffer dyno ran when it got them. There may be one or two tricks to do with a carb'd engine, but I wouldn't hope for too much.

You'd stand a better chance eating ice cream with a screwdriver (Philips head).
