New motor, so I don't want to bring it up to rev limiter... how else can I tell?

Also, I have the harness to hook it up. I used the harness, to get between the coil and the stock harness.... grounded the large black wire.... now with the hot wire, I tapped in right in back of the alternator. Is that bad? Should I tap into the battery?

I would assume since the coil is run off the 6AL the car wouldn't start if it wasn't working. You can get like a 4k chip to test it if you want w/o over revving

i guess thats what i'll do. put a 3500 pill in it... its running through an MSD coil..

it started right up.. so if it wasnt working you dont think the car would turn over?

Thanks for the help!

Are you running the stock tach? If so then its possible that your tach is off in comparison to your shift light. Trust the shift light, not the stock tach. I had the same problem. I was shifting at 5800 using the stock tach but when I bought a Pro Lite and installed a 5800 chip I was pulling up to 6000 according to the stock tach before my light would come on. I ended up with a 5600 chip in the light.
