How can I test new fuel pump before install?

Bought a new 190 walbro at a swap meet awhile back. Just got around to installing it and thought I should test it before I slap the tank back up in there. I tried putting 12 volts to it and got nothing, so I figured I would check my old one the same way and still got nothing. I get continuity but it does nothing with 12 volts. What am I missing? And does everyone hate those fuel clips or is it just me?

I ran 12 volts to it and it worked fine. You can find an ECU tech guide online, and use the paperclip thingy to test it. It should help you that way.

Put it on the battery quick, red to + and black to -
