how come most of the chevy guys still think the new camaro is faster than the 2011 mustang? even when there is information all over the net about the mustang smoking the camaro in drag races and on the track. Why do they think they can walk all over mustangs? especially 2v's. and think their stock ls1 camaro's are God sent?

im sure other people have noticed this and got a little upset as well. All chevy guys do is make up excuses like "the race was rigged for the mustang" and stuff like that when a mustang beats their beloved camaro. I'm just tired of them always thinking their camaro's are so awesome. Also, 1 more thing.. why do they think the ls1 camaros can run 12's stock? I've yet to see one run in the 12's stock.

All of the camaro guys who look on this thread. Your stock/cammed ls1 camaro is not Awesome/the fastest car out there. your ws6 (its a nice car, dont get me wrong) is not the fastest car ever. MY MUSTANGS arent the fastest/coolest cars out there. and the new camaro is not faster than the 2011 mustang. Mustangs are very fast cars too, if you put work into them. just like every other car out there. Thanks.

Dont get me wrong, I love my Mustang; but there is no denying that ls1 F-bodies are quick especially with bolt ons. An LS1 car with bolt ons and a cam will make close to 400whp. Theres no doing that with our modulars. Maybe a 4v can if you wind it out enough.

Like you even said. Our cars are fast if you put work into them. Camaro's and Trans Am's are fast with next to nothing done to em. Same thing with the new GTs and Terminators.

First of all, chevy did not build camaros with mickey thompsons in the back, thus the car is not stock. I do think there are some stock LS1s driven to high 12s with all season or plain summer tires, but that one doesn't count.

The new mustang and new camaro are still pretty close to each other in a drag race. It could easily come down to a drivers race one way or the other. None the less, the mustang seems to be a few ticks quicker. I say don't worry about what chevy owners think and let them find out on the track and at the stop lights.

I'm a ford man but have an ls vette in the garage too. I don't know what you're getting so upset about. Some people are stupid and that's just the way it is. I'm sure there are just as many mustang owners that their ride is top stuff no matter what as well.

a moron is a moron, they drive all types of cars, not just camaro's.

on a side note....the ls engine is as close to a perfect platform to mod and extract big power from as they come. I wouldn't say they are god sent but compared to other stuff on the market they sure kick butt...

I have a lot of GM friends that more than respect the new Mustangs. Some are just asshats... some Mustang owners are asshats to GM guys, but most of the time we overlook it since they're in our "group".

I have a buddy that ran 12.9 in a '98 Z/28 auto, lid and catback only on street tires. MPH was fairly solid as well. They are great platforms to build from. Another friend went 12.76 at 110mph with just a lid and exhaust on street tires in his 6 speed WS/6.

I dont care. Show me a stock 2v or 4v sn95 (no terminators) run that time with sticky tires. Not gonna happen.

i make more than 400rwhp and i dont have all the bolt ons.

stock for stock a 2010SS and 2011GT are a drivers race. .2-.3 apart.

once a few mods and tires get on the 2011GT its not much of a race unless the GT misses a shift.

one full bolt ons are on a GT and 2010SS the GT is running 11.5-11.8 and the camaro has a hard time breaking 11's. the blow axles and rear ends if they hook without serious rear end parts.

now GT's are in the 10's with bolt ons / heads. SS just cant do that.

cam/full bolt on ls1's will lose most often against full bolt on GT's. i checked out on an A4 2011 ws6 with lid/catback. let him have the hit. i wasnt worried.

exactly. Most of the guys in our group are mustang owners. We cordinate through ls1tech, corvetteforum, here and a couple other sites to meet up and when we go to the track. Not everybody knows each real well, but we all get a long and everybody is respectful. To tell you the truth, the only guy that nobody really likes owns a GT500 and is in 50s. Complete Dick when things don't go his way at the track and he has owned a viper, 2 vettes, 3 mustangs, etc. But even he, respects all cars.

Bingo. Superchargers are cheating, but an extra 66 cubic inches is not. That's never made sense to me. Run what you brung, and the first one cross the line wins.

I don't understand why we can't all just respect each others cars, enjoy our own, and have fun racing.

+23498234. We've got one of EVERYTHING in the drag strip club here, and yet everyone gets along with everyone, we all help each other out, and we all have a lot of fun racing with and against each other. I don't understand the "I am better than you because my car is faster than yours" mentality.

I have a 2010 SS Camaro and a GT, granted my GT is a '99 and not the new 2011 GT, and I can say I love them both equally but for totally different reasons. A friend of mine said I was an enigma. I said why? She said how can you have a camaro and mustang in the same garage? I said that was easy, because they're both American muscle car icons, and glad to be able to own both. Heck, If I was able to (lack of $$$) I'd also have a 1970 Charger 500 to have one from each brand.

At the track, on any given day, it really comes down to the drivers. Like Billfisher said, "stock for stock a 2010SS and 2011GT are a drivers race. .2-.3 apart."

It's all a matter of perspective. Heck the guys on Top Gear go blithering on about their beloved British vehicles and us Yanks don't know squat. Same thing applies to the 'maro vs 'stang wars etc...Yeah, there's gonna be some dufus' in both camps, let 'em think their happy happy thoughts 'cuz they're oscar meyer weiners :nutkick:

Seems to me some people need to get there heads out of Fords and Chevy's buttock. Out of 50 people on the road, maybe 2 know how perfectly engage a clutch on there vehicle and use there vehicle strengths to make up for horsepower. Horsepower isn't everything.
Camaros are great in a straight line but handle like a cinder block, that tells me either that you need a serious driver mod or put some insane suspension into the car. That been said.
Any car is high performance vehicle in my hands, make what ever you have work for ya'.
No sense in been arrogant b/c one thinks there car is better, that insures a rude awakening.
I'm pretty sure theres a N/A 2 valve beating on the 2011 anything. Just like I'm sure there a 4 cylinder car somewhere making fools out a lot of V-8's. Enjoy your vehicle and the privelage to drive, make your car weaknesses its strengths and vice versa.

In my opinoion I have owned both(LS1s and 4.6) ls1s respond great to bolt ons, 4.6 P.I. not so much. I can see the argument from both sides, displacement, weight, suspension ECT. What gm can never match is power for dollars spent. A perfect example 02 camaro ss or TA WS6 mid thirties new and little over 300 hp, 03 cobra mid 30,000$ and stock the same hp as a full bolt on F body. Don't get me wrong I think the ls1 is a great pushrod engine, but coming from a LS1 fan there is no way in hell the new camaro can compete in price or performance ford offers in the new coyote engine . In a beauty contest of the big three the challenger wins in my opinion (but its a dodge). The new mustang makes great power, and has a great price considering the competition.

The 5.4 2v is a complete dog. You can get a stock bottom end ls1 with a great head/cam job to make 480-510rwhp. Pretty sure the top hp guys had better luck with a 2v 4.6 than a 2v 5.4, which I'm sure Bill will chime in on, and wasn't near those numbers.

I’m a die hard “fast car guy” it doesn’t matter what it is, and I’ll even give props to the ricers running low 12’s. The group of guys I run with have everything from a low 9 sec. supra to a cam only T/A running mid 10’s on the bottle, and guess what, I’m the slowest of them all running a 4v full bolt on 281. The mod motors will never produce the bottom end torque of the LSX just like the LSX spinning a comfortable 7 grand and still producing power is almost unheard of.

A wise man told me “It’s your car and you like it, and, You like it because its your car.” LSX guys are crazy about the LSX motor and will rarely admit to letting a little mod motor beat them and if you start pulling ahead they’ll just hit the NOS button. But if you want to run any year stock for stock Ford has it in 03 and 04 with the Termi. and lets face it, the “Mustang” has almost 50 years in and that is saying something for a Muscle car. Camaro, GTO, Charger, Challenger none of the other original muscle cars have been continuously produced since their conception. Not saying it makes us better ..... Well actually yeah I am LOL
