How did you stick the valve cover gasket on?

Hey guys... problem, how did you get the gasket to stick on the valve cover? I tried gasket and trim adhesive, but the sob's won't stay put! now please try and tell me what to do before i super glue them in there, as this is about to drive me nuts. It wouldn't stick! The first time I put them in, they stuck, but now, they don't. For the whole headswap, this has been the hardest part... a darn gasket. Tips please!
