what the subject...word.
my car's finally running great...the iac was causing it to not stay running when cold...it's been like that for years...now it is fixed. i have been enjoying and driving the car once again! not a driveway ornament anymore.
the car idles too high. the autometer tach is reading 1100 or so and the factory tach is right under 1000. don't know which one is accurate but both are too high.
somebody please tell me how to adjust the idle ('93 gt - e cam, tw heads).
also how do i adjust the timing?

thanks all!

the idle screw is just a bunch of threads...it's tough to rotate...if i use pliers i would think i would strip the screw...now what? hehe man i'm so technically challenged when it comes to working on cars.

PLaying with the screw will work sometimes but most of the time the computer will try to compensate and can cause a bouncy idle.

yeah, just use a flathead, its not that hard. for adjusting timing unscrew the 1/2 screw that is holding the distributor at the bottom and without taking it out turn it clockwise to advance and counterclockwise to retard.

with that cam and heads, you might not get the idle a whole lot lower and have it idle decently.

good luck.

I was gonna say the same thing. I was reading the surging idle sticky earlier and 89MustangGX, I believe it was, said that he's had to bump the idle to around 1000 w/ every e-cammed car he's worked on to get them to idle correctly (he didn't adjust w/ the idle screw though, he played w/ the IAC). I might have to do the same to my b303 cammed car so the *****er will quit dying on me.
