Hey folks,

Installed a DVD in my '01 GT. I love having a movie going when I'm working on my car. Any idea how to disconnect the door bell that rings when the driver's door is open? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Just for reference here's a few pics I took when I wanted to find out where mine was at.

Not really. I pulled several of the plugs 1 at a time while the thing was dinging to see what plug the wires were in. There are 3 different wires that make it chime: the door switch, the ignition, and the seatbelt. I think the headlights run into one of those three also. The only thing I can think of to get it to not chime while the door is wire the door so that it thinks it is always closed, but then the interior light won't come on when that door is open.

Also, you might be able to break the plastic cover off and rip the insides out. OR, have somebody good at circuit boards heat up the sauters and pull it out.

I have an idea.....it has two parts.

First. Fool the system into thinking the door is always closed by creating an always closed loop for that circut.

Second. Rewire the dorr ajar switch inteh door jam so it bypasses the "black box" to turn the dome light on when the door actually is open.

It should work. I think.

If you open your door and look on the side of it then you will see this little thing that opens and closes as you open and close your door. All you gotta do is open your door and take a screw driver or something and push the little thing away from you, now the door will think its close and the dinging will stop. Just make sure you dont try to close your door because you wont be able to. When you want to close your door just go to open it like you normally would and the little thing should go back down, but double check before you slam it. If you have no idea what Im talking about then I have pictures to help.

Try This..

It wont stop it but it'll make it really quiet :)

Put a peice of black electrical tape over the buzzer.. Its a piezolectric buzzer that either will get louder or get quieter.. Give it a shot :)
