I have a actron code scanner cp9015 for ford lincoln mercurys. I dont see anything about how to erase on demand codes. There is info on erasing continious memmory but my car passed that test . I am looking to erase on demand codes, does anyone know how to do this. Any input is appreciated.
Disconnecting the test jumper while dumping codes, or pressing the erase button on your scanner will erase any stored codes. Disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and turning on the headlights will do the same thing. After this, any codes that pop up are there because the component they point to is defective or has wiring problems.
If the solenoid is working correctly, then the code should go away after a few good cycles. But, it would probably be easier to dump the codes and see if it's still kicking out after driving it again.
