you have to contribute to Tech, talk posts do not count.

There are far too many people that simply post in tech for that reason, but contribute little or nothing. I personally think the post count should be hidden.

Yep.

Staff and Admin forums count as well, but most of you needn't worry about those.

+1's dont' bother me so much if they can back them up some reasoning to why they agree.

What gets me is:
"You need to get XXX from YYY. They are the best. I'm getting an XXX from them as soon as I save up the money"

Translation:
"I don't know wtf I am talking about. Since I have never used an XXX or dealt with YYY, but I read it on the internet, so I am going to contribute it to this thread since that is the extent of my technical knowledge on this subject. And since I post this stuff in every tech thread I can I must be knowledgable because my post count is so high."

Ouch. Who forgot to send you a Christmas card last year?

Seriously, I know what you mean and frankly, when you deal with the public domain, you have to take the bad with the good while weeding out the worst.

yeah I guess that is true. I've done that before, but I make sure I know what I'm talking about before posting something... if I'm not 100% sure, I usually will say that. I just like to try and help in some way, I could care less about post counts though

True, and I don't want stangnet to be a hardline web site where tech has super strict regulations. Other wise you end up with a boring site that is luck to get 10 posts a day.

Yeah thats true too. I think the mods do a pretty good job with keeping things tech, but there are some people who manage to still abuse the system
