how do i move my battery?

i have a 93 2.3 coupe, and want to put the battery in the trunk. i bought the kit but it came with no instructions. its my daily driver so how do i run all the wires? can i just ground the block and run the positive cable from my solinoid to the rear, and ground the battery in the trunk. or is it not that simple. any help would be great. especially pictures lots and lots of pictures.

Yes. That's how I had my old '90. It's not the safest way to do it but it works.

I would put a circuit breaker on the positive cable, between the battery and the solinoid. Keep it close to the battery, less than two feet. 100 amp should do. If you can get a magnetic breaker, it would be better than a bi-metalic one (they wear out). It should never trip, but in teh case that it gets overloaded, you'll be thankful

Well the "safe" way to do it actually is to move the starter solenoid to the trunk and put it right next to the battery. This requires re-doing a lot of wires though. if you go to www.madelectrical.com they sell a kit to do it...been looking at it myself. I'd like to move the battery to the trunk on my Thunderbird but I got other things I wanna do first.

I heard you can't put a fuse/breaker on the positive battery cable due to the fact that the starter draws all the amps the battery can deliver during startup, so there isn't one big enough available I dunno.

how many amps can it draw?? it shouldn't be more than 100A!

Don't ask me...I read it in a magazine. I didn't even know you could get fuses or breakers rated for 100 amps.

i got it in there. all i did was run the cable from the solinoid to the rear of the car. mounted my battery box, ran a ground cable from the bumper bolt through the floor to the battery , and i used the existing ground on the engine and grounded that to the frame rail in the front of the car. it was very easy, starts right up with no probs. and if you buy a kit dont kit the taylor one, the cable was about 2 feet to short, and i had to go buy a longer cable from nappa.
