I would stay away from hard downshifting too. The idea is to get the clutch through as many safe heat cycles as possible and hard downshifts can be very tough on a new clutch.
pretty much, don't downshift, race it (like street racing) shift fast and hard, and just be very gentle on it for the first 750 miles... I always give myself a little more leway...
