Im installing a new upper and lower Cobra Manifold and i got the upper off and the electrical connections to all 8 injectors. I was wondering if i could somehow take the injectors off with the chrome fuel line thing, "sorry dont know the proper name for it". I just need a few pointers and i should be good, i just dont wanna screw it up!! Thanks

the injectors are removed simply by pulling the fuel rail off...some of the injectors may stick into it...any others can be removed from the lower by pulling them straight out. You might need to wiggle them a little bit, but I wouldn't go crazy with it. The first time I did it, I didn't know how hard to pull and I was kinda scared I was gonna break something, but you really do have to pull hard sometimes. I pull a little on each end of the injector in an effort to remove it evenlly.

This may be a good time to replace your injector o-rings if you haven't.

Be sure you remove the 4 bolts that hold the fuel rails on, and release the fuel line's at the connector's by the alternator. Any parts store can sell you the special tool that releases those fittings - people tell me the plastic ones work better than the metal ones do. Having the rails completely free to move will make it easier to lift them off the injectors. Check all your o-rings (both ends of the injectors) carefully for damage. Replace if necessary - use a little white grease, vaseline, ArmorAll to lube the orings up before you replace them - and be sure that the cups inside the fuel rail and in the lower intake are completely clean before you re-insert the injectors.

Fuel injector seal kits with 2 O rings and a pintle cap (Borg-Warner P/N 274081) are available at Pep Boys auto parts. Cost is about $2.74 per kit. The pintle caps fit either injectors with a pin sticking out the injector end or 4 with more tiny holes in the injector end. The following are listed at the Borg-Warner site ( http://www.borg-warner.com ) as being resellers of Borg-Warner parts:

http://www.partsplus.com/ or http://www.autovalue.com/ or http://www.pepboys.com/ or http://www.federatedautoparts.com/

Most of the links above have store locators for find a store in your area.

Use motor oil on the O rings when you re-assemble them & everything will slide into place. The gasoline will wash away any excess oil that gets in the wrong places and it will burn up in the combustion chamber.

If they are stock injectors I would recommend changing them. Mine cracked at the top and I spent about two weeks with different O rings trying to stop the leaking. I went and bought new injectors and it worked perfect! I also have to say the O Rings that came with the injectors fit a lot better than the ones from Autozone and even the ones from the Ford Dealership. Wierd because they are Ford Racing injectors.

Anyways look for a little black line by the top of the injector where the plastic meets the metal. It should be right under the top O Ring part.
