the weirdest thing i have ever seen happened to me today. I driving down my block doing 30 or 40mph and to my horror watch my speedometer rise to 60, 70, 80, 90, 100......then spikes and goes all the way around
I have never seen this before in my life!. Anyway, now I stopped, turned off the car and now it seems like its working normal, but the needle is below the stop at 0mph. I need to take it out and reposition the needle above that point....so how does that plastic cover come out? also has any of you guys ever heard of something like this??? im just hopeing it was one of those freek, planets align type things. I thought german cars are known for electrical problems.

You need to take off the headlight knob. I use a bent nail to pull it out, put it in the notch and pull. (I put the nail in a vise grip for this, a pliers should work fine)

Then you take the 2 screws out that sit above the clear plastic over the gauges. Pull out the dash around the gauges.

Then you unscrew around the gauges and pull them out. You can pull just the top part off and not remove the entire cluster, but you have to take out the correct screws for that.

You will need torx heads for this. And make sure they are magnetic and pretty strong as it's easy to drop the screws in there and they can fall into places that are hard to get them out.

Just start pulling things off and you will figure it out.. It really isn't that complicated
