How Do These Power Window Kits Work?

I'll buy that....but does anyone else have problems with this forum just stalling at times.....like it is down or there is a DNS problem. Sometimes I can click on a thread and it does nothing. I have to keep trying for a while or leave and come back a few minutes later for it to work. If it is only me then I need to find the problem and I will call the cable company because I think they have a problem with their DNS server although they assure me they don't.

No, the same thing happens to me. It's not your issue.

OK, since you didn't do all those posts on purpose...
A friend gave me a pair of these to play with and I did. I had completely redone my regulator and all on my 67's pass. side door, so it would crank up and down with two fingers. I got the SPAL fitted and it zipped up and down nicely. I tried it on my "unfixed" and gummy driver's door and it also worked, just not as well. I'm positive these things were designed for door glasses that aren't nearly as heavy as the ones in our classics. My same buddy showed me one that had failed and by the looks of them they won't take a whole bunch of stress.
At $40 a pair, a couple of spares in case of failure wouldn't be a big deal, but I don't care much for the way they install, the main reason I don't plan to use them. You snake the main part into the door somewhere and secure it, no biggy. You slip the donut end over the regulator where it fits onver the splines with the appropriate adapter. This means the two cables will be pinned under the door panel. It may differ on other cars, but on 67-8 with plain door panels it causes a bit of a bulge at that point. Not a huge bulge and it's possible "Deluxe" style panels might not be prone to this.
The main thing is that your regulator stubs will be covered by the black plastic cabs you see in the picture. Although watching them spin as the window goes up and down is amusing, they're pretty obvious and unattractive (to me). One nice thing I discovered is that if one of these things does fail for some reason(like a dead battery), you can pop the plastic cap off, stick your old handle back on and still operate your window. I might get around to fooling with these at a later point. If I can figure out how to mount them under the stock handle, they look great. And it would be cool to have window handles that spun by themselves. Plus you could still operate them by hand at any time. I haven't tried them on the quarter glasses yet. They may have more potential back there.

I read this and thought "well, one of us is stupid" DOH! It's me. I was looking at the "Buy It Now" stuff in the Ebay link from the first post and neglected to notice that for $40 you can get a power LOCK kit. My bad. As mine were given to me, I never paid attention to what they sold for. Still cheaper than Haneline, but not nearly the deal I was thinking. I should have known better. I see the bids are up to about $134 now. A more realistic price, no doubt. Sorry.
