i think you have to take the shifter off, the complete thing, and then disconnect the shift lever from the shifter mounting plate. I dont think the T-handle comes off.

So I don't have to twist it or anything, just pull really hard? And how hard is it gonna be to get back on, with the button and all?

any reason why you want to take the handle off? I believe an aftermarket shifter isnt possible because when you push the button, it PULLS on a lever at the plate, where as a push button aftermarket shifter knob would PUSH the lever...

i could be wrong but thats what i thought when i looked at mine...

It's possible, I've seen it done. Not sure how they went about it, but it's definitely doable.

I got a manual shift boot and bezel from the JY for 3 bucks. That is why I need to get the shifter off..........I'm just scared I won't be able to get it back on properly.
