I don't know if this is something around me or not, but every once in a while I see some neat little burnouts in the shape of a "J." Does anyone know how to make them?

If I had to guess, start a burnout in reverse and then hammer the car in drive and away you go with a letter of the alaphabet on the pavement.

I would think you just start the burnout, cut the wheel till the back-end swings-out 180*, then cut the wheel the other way to straigten-out and try to control it to go straight afterwards
I did something like that before, but it turned-out more like the letter "P", with a full 360* donut followed by a straight run.

Most of the "J" burnouts I have seen were done by front wheel drive cars that do just as you say, put it in reverse and then slam it into gear. I'm sure it could be done with a RWD car but I'd never try it.

That be the way... seen it done. He should keep an eye out for a "J" burnout that ends quickly. Should be tranny fluid on the road.

my idiot friend used to do them until one day he blew out his tire and trashed his rim. It was hilarious to watch though

i've done it too many times in my old stang. not on purpose though. backing out of the driveway in a hurry, still rolling in reverse maybe 4 or 5 mph, rev to 2k dump the clutch in 1st gear, it spins the tires while you're still going backwards, for about a foot, then slides sideways and continues on, thus making your 'j' shape. it's not really any harder on the car than a regular burnout....

well the transition in a auto is pretty tough on stuff...

before i got my trac loc rebuilt in my 93 i would have to put it in reverse and roll back a couple feet then stop and roast it to get both wheels to spin lol my unit was pretty trashed
