I want to remove the rocker panel molding on my 67 because Im getting body work done. Anyone know the best way to do this? Did you just weld the holes shut after? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I pulled them off of my '68 in a fairly haphazard way. Once I got one end free, I would pull up and twist outward, then pull down and twist outward as the plastic clips pop loose. My method broke some of those clips, but I didn't care because those holes are getting filled anyway. I was only concerned with not bending the rocker covers.

If you want to permanently remove the rocker molding, then yes, the correct thing to do is to weld the holes shut and dress the welds.

Some people try to just cover up holes like that with filler, but that never lasts.

I welded the ones shut on my '68, but you need to grind it a bit because (at least on my '68) the rockers are galvanized and it's a bear to weld the holes if you don't.

To remove, there's a stud at the front, and there are simple clips that run the length. Drill out the pop rivets on the clips after you take the molding off and weld up all the holes.
