How does a 5 speed LX stack up to a gt?

So this dumb shi** thinks his lx is fast... Has some performance parts wheeee... stock for stock what are the horsepower and quarter miles times for both cars? I drove a 96 lx that 5speed one time that would have probably took my car when it was stock.. But it had a serious cam headers full exhaust TB, CAI, Injectors,Tune 4.10's 17" Bullits cobra suspension...... Short throw shifter bla bla it was impresive but still..... My clutch slips a bit if you really abuse it but i think this cai fresh 3.8 lx is going to get spanked like a little girl!! I have a CAI, AT catback PI intake and new tires Im thinking id leave a mod'd lx sitting.

I'm sorry but maybe I am reading this wrong. your post goes on about another mustang that was built and then you end with 3.8lx??

are you talking about a 5.0 lx mustang or a v-6? what years are you talking about? lx's were only for fox bodies and didnt really apply to the 96+ years.

there is a huge difference between a 3.8 and a 5.0 lx with bolt ons. a 3.8 I think I could take in my wife's old golf. I would get killed by a 5.0 though.

96-98 were severely overrated when new. I think it would be a drivers race. those 4.6 were pretty much gutless unless you were p.i. we need more info on the lx and mods.

if it is a 3.8 then I dont know why you are even asking and this thread is worthless unless he has some serious modifications to the motor and possibly a power adder.

Don't race them. You'll be wasting gas and you know you kill them anyway. Race something that's worth racing. The pre 99 3.8 are gutlless. The 99 and up models do run better. Back in 2000, I drove a 3.8 Stang for my wife. It ran better than what I expected. I believe the 99 3.8 made 195hp and the pre 99's made 160hp. Pearl02.

Those cars are slow as ~~~~.

Ive raced them in my Jeep Cherokee and put them to shame.

You should bet a full tank of gas on the race and hope he didnt hook up some nawwwz at the last minute, y0.


My GF had a 99 3.8 and it was alot quicker than the older ones. It was actually kind of fun to drive, as others were like turtles with wheels.

My bolt on AUTOMATIC LX 5.0 is faster than my 5-spd GT.

I dunno 96 gts are kinda hit or miss one of my friends bought one new and with more mods than i have it was slower than crap.. 11's in the 1/8th (5speed) and he can drive!! my buddys 4.0 cherokee raped him it was sad... made me really leary of the early 4.6's but here i am years later with one so i guess its just whatever... I drove probably 10 diffrent 96/98's and its amazing how much diffrence in power between them with no mods or the same mods etc.. My 96 was bone stock when i bought it still has the factory clutch at 140k (needs replaced!).. but its suprisingly strong.. With pi intake cai and a catback it runs dead even with my friends 99gt he has a 5spd OR h pipe and a catback.

94-04 base mustangs were referred to as v6 mustangs. not lx
