How does this hood to radiator seal go?

I ordered a seal that goes between the hood and radiator, but I'm not sure how it is supposed to be installed. The car never had that seal as long as I've had it, so I have nothing to go by.

It just mounts at the top of the radiator support:

What are the small staples for?

The small staples are actually the fastners for the seal. I put the rubber strip in place then I pushed the staples into the rubber enough to make a mark. Then lI drilled a small hole (Same size as the staple) through the rubber and the metal then inserted the staples. I used a pair of pliers to bend the tabs over. On my 65 coupe the quater windows also have staples for the felt weatherstrip. Must have had heavy duty staples @ the factory.

Sounds like a very permanent, temporary mount...good thing post-it notes weren't invented yet
