Well the other day was over and he was like hey you know i could steal your new intake real easily i was like ok, the hoods closed. Hes like watch this, climbs under my car, not 5 seconds later... pop... my hood was open. :jaw: . I realized how accessable my engine compartment was to someone with mustang knowledge and a few seconds to spare. I was wondering if there was any way to lock the hood down some how? One idea i had was hood pins but use locks. But i really wouldn't like to cut up my hood. Anyone ever saw someone do this to their car? Anyone ever rig up a way to protect their engine compartment. I know they have alarms with a hood senser that goes off if the hood pops, but i want more assurance than that. Anyone?

Usually people just steal the whole car. It would also take a few minutes to get the intake off especially if you have a strut tower brace. The thing is if someone wants to steal it bad enough they WILL get it. You just have to be smart about it and make it as hard as possible for them to steal. I use locking hood pins on my car.

locking hood pin would work but i think they look ugly..............so i am gonna use the locking hatch...........best way to keep the whole car from being stolen is look into the chips they have................diablo had one that had a little progam built into it so if you didnt turn the key on the chip it would start..........that with ign and fuel kill switch would pretty much make your car hard as **** to steal...........but hell they could always cut the park break and roll it up on a roll back if they want it bad enough.

When I lived in Phoenix, the car theft capitol of the US, I just parked to cars that were better than mine. That way it would make my car less tempting. Sadly my roomates 91 stang was stolen not even 10 feet from our apartment.

Someone did the 5 sec thing to my car a few months ago, not many ppl know about it where I live and car crime is low but when I put more stuff under the hood im definetly gonna go with locking hood pins.

U know its easier to open the door then it is to pop the hood right? I would look into securing your doors so people cant pop the lock... if you dont know what I am talking about good :)

I'm assuming your talking about going through the slot at the handle, right?

It is very easy to open the door if you know how to do it. When we had my car apart for paint I learned how to do it, and we made provisons so it can't be done now.

Just got my intake, throttle body and CIA stolen about month and a half ago. If they want it bad enough, they will get it :( Now, when I get my car fixed and painted, it's only going to be parked in the garage.
