How far can I go with mods before I run into problems?

Hello. I'm planning on building a 90 mustang 5.0 EFI to swap into an older Ford. I want a little more power than the stock 5.0, but don't want to go too far to create lean air/fuel ratios, surging and other driveability issues. I'm not trying to squeeze out every last hp but want a reliable, daily driver. I'm considering the following mods; ported stock lower intake, ported factory E7TE heads and long tube headers. Will the A9L or A9P have any issues with these mods? I'll probably stay with the stock maf, 19lb injectors, throttle body, and cam. Since I'm trying to keep this afordable, I'm trying to stay away from custom dyno tunes and expensive mafs etc. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

From what you've listed you're improving air flow in and out. The computer will be more than able to compensate. The 19# injectors will be fine for that amount of power.

I remember reading somewhere that the long tubes create issues with the o2 sensors because the exhaust gas has cooled by the time it reaches them vs the short tube style. Is there any truth to that? I plan on running heated o2 sensors and ceramic coated headers just to be safe.

Not an issue I've experienced..o2's will be fine, your running well within spec that the factory fuel system and electrical/sensor components can handle.

It's going in a F100. I got this thing when I was in high school (back in the 80's) and has been my daily driver ever since. With over 250,000 mile's it's time for an update. I'm fabricating a custom grille, installing a dash from a 2005 F150, a/c, pwr windows etc. It still has the same 302 it left the factory with, still runs fine, no smoke, starts every time, just looking for more power. Compared to the more modern vehicles, the 2bbl and single exhaust seems kinda slow at times.

Thanks for all the replys everyone. I really appreciate your help. :SNSign: It will be awhile before I can post pics, and begin work, I'm still in the parts buying stage. Since I'm building this motor from scratch (no donor car) I only get the parts as funds allow.
