I'm bidding on a motorsport 160mph cluster. please don't anyone bid more on it. how hard would it be to install? what do i need if i do win it? it comes with the entire cluster, but says the whole cluster wont work with 90+ ? so i have to take out the speedo and put it on mine. will it match up, the black part. the black looks really dark on the picture, but the cluster its in looks pretty dusty, could that be it?

So your car is a 90-93? The speedo part is the complete part between the center lights and the gauges on the side. The 90-93 speedo has the bottom left side cut to clear the airbag steering wheel. The 87-89 speedo is rectangular. You can see the faceplate differences here:

You do not need to remove the needles. You remove the complete speedo mechanism including the faceplate. You need the 160 faceplate as the speedo is calibrated to it. But them you will need to trim the speedo to fit an airbag car.

Another option if you want to take a chance, you can remove the needle and mechanism from the faceplate, peel off the 160 stick on face part from the plastic base, then attach it to your stock 90-93 faceplate plastic base, of course after you have removed the stock face. Then you need to attach the mechanism and the needle and trim the face to fit the 90-93 faceplate base. But there is a chance you could screw up the 160 stick on face by doing this.

I will say the coloring and the texture is slightly different, and the turn signal arrows are different between the 87-89 and 90-93 gauges. I have a 92 speedo in my 87 cluster and I cut and filed and drilled new holes so it would fit in my 87 cluster.
