How long are the stock spark plugs good for

I have 9,700 miles on my car with the stock plugs. How many miles do they usually last. My idle isn't as smooth as it used to be, but my timing is advanced through the chip. Should I leave them alone for a while. Or should I replace them. i race alot and have hit the rev limiter alot if that helps any. Also any tips tricks on removing spark plugs.

Usually 15k miles, but I replace mine every spring...gotta get ready for race season.

Do the coil-packs twist off or pull off? Are they brittle?

There is a bolt holding the coil on plug units down (5 or 6 mm I think) , after unscrewing them they come off just like regular spark plug wires (pull on the rubber part)

with an engine in good condition...i.e. ring and valve seals in good shape, the plugs should last you till roughly 75,000 miles before needing changed.

Yeah, I thought they were supposed to last -really-. I changed mine at 45k.

Well, since the stockers are platinums I would think you could get 100k+ out of them.

I havent changed mine yet and havent notice any loose of power or hesitation.

I will be replacing them this summer though.

I have like 36k on my car.

Mine lasted to 50,000 adn what rurnt them was the fact that I iced down my intake :o
And the water that resulted from it melting gto down in my coilpacks......

They should last MUCH longer than 9,700 unless you a/f is off for some reason.

Supposed to wrap a towel around the ice pack... so water -doesn't- do that.

Yeah, I know that now, but I'm not sure that I want to take a chance anyways.. Sooner or later, the water is gonna get through that towel
