I'm asking this because I've got 14 000 on my present tires and the fronts need to be replaced. I rotate them about every 5000 miles, keep pressure at 30psi, did an alignment about 15000 miles ago (steering wheel is still pretty straight) and don't to virtually any burnouts
The ones on the front have been on the front for about 9K of the 14K and are balding on the outside edges. I've always noticed that this is where my tires always start to go out first. When I look at other Mustangs I notice the same balding pattern -- outside tread first. Is this inherent to our cars? The rears still look good and I can probably squeeze them out to 20K.
BTW, I've got 255/40/17 Kuhmo Ecsta 711's. Not the best tires but they were a package deal with my rims. Nonetheless I go thru tires like socks. Going to try some 275/40 BFGoodrich, Goodyears or Nitto's next time. Never had the benefit of a really good performance tire.
