How many oil changes did it take you guys after installing new headgaskets to get rid of all the coolant/water?. I am on 3 and still have the milkshake. Im leaning towards something else may be messed up. Doing compression test on Sun.
i just did my last month and not a poof of smoke upon start up. I have a 200,000 plus short block. I think you should check your intake gasket it may not be seated right or if you had the heads milled things may not be lining up. This happened to me about 10 years ago. Good luck
You still have a problem. The water should go away by evaporation once the engine is up to temp for 20+ minutes. You don't need to change the oil to get the water out.
I agree, one oil change is all that's needed. That's all I have ever done.
FWIW: After working on the top end, what *I* like to do is to change the oil before I even start up the engine. That way, you get rid of any water that was in already in the oil before you start it up. Then, I run the car until it's hot, and change the oil again.
For the price and time of an oil change, I prevent having oil that's badly contaminated with water from running the system.
It's most likely your intake gasket shifted when you set the manifold down (had this happened on a buddy's 289...twice). Go ahead and check compression. If the numbers are good, it's probably the intake gasket.
