I'm looking at Richmond's website for ring and pinions. They have ratios for my factory 8" rear end. However, I've always been under the impression that my 8" carried 28 spline axles. Ricmond is showing it for 25 spline axles. However, when looking further on their website at the Powertrax no-slip unit that I want to buy. They show their no-slip unit listed for the 8" at 28 spline. What the heck is going on??

8" axles are 28-spline, AFAIK.

I Would Imagine That The 25 Spline Is The Pinion Shaft Splines And Not The Axle, But I'm Not Sure. Just A Guess

for the most part V8 axles used 28 splines. high perf 9" axles used 31 spline axles, and six cylinder cars used 25 spline axles untill 71 iirc.

Good stuff. The 28 spline will work just fine for most applications except very high torque drag racing. I use a 28 spline in my race rod and no problems with years of use.
