I don't think they will drop drastically because they just became collector's cars.

Quite possible. This might be the last Mustang bodied Cobra. The new SVT car might not be called Cobra due to Carroll Shelbys involvement with Ford. The new SVT car is rumored to be starting at $45K+. This will leave most that cannot afford one now almost definately out of the picture. However the new car might have all the high end stuff that the M-series has.

I suspect that all of the SVT Cobras will continue on their current rate of depreciation. The desire to own a Cobra, particularly the 99+ Cobras will probably continue strong. The demand for the new GT will likely exhaust dealer supplies. Plus, with little or no incentives, there will be a lot of Mustang fans who can't afford the new cars and don't want a V6.
I was down in Myrtle Beach recently and I was surprised to look at the paper and see the local Carmax ad. They had two 2001 Cobras with mileage higher than mine advertised for $23,000! I'm thinking of placing a classified ad down there and see what kind of nimbles I get if the demand for them warrant that kind of asking price!

Let's put it this way, I sold my car earlier this year and I got $25000 for it. If you search the boards (svtperfromance.com in particular) you can find 03's all day for 25K. So if you do the math the 03 lost $10k in a little over a year. Another way to see what these things will be worth is figure out how old the car will be when (the year) you want to buy it and find a Cobra that is just as old Today and that is roughly what you will pay. This crap about collectors cars, etc doesn't mean anything to value. Heck, the Mystic Cobra I just bought is only worth $10k or so the book says. I paid way more than that because it was a great condition, low milage car, etc.

Bottom line is if you want an 03/ 04 Cobra value of the car will be on your side, I would say that in late 2005 you could get a 03 for the HIGH teens, low twentys

Just my opnion

It's not now we're talking about. We're talking down the line 25-30 years. Most of these cars by then will be blown up from greedy owners looking for power, or most are already track cars. No different then the musclecar era when nobody cared about collecting either.

I think the lowest will be 28K maybe 27K at the very least, don't forget that this is still one of the biggest bang for the buck Mustangs still around and unless the new Cobra is sc then these prices will stay right where they're at.
